The nursery is situated within the medical centre and leads on from the programme of treatment for infant malnutrition. Many of the children who go to the nursery joined up once they had recovered. Other children from the slum also attend, with priority going to those who have nobody to look after them during the day so that they are not left in the street.
The nursery welcomes 40 boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 5 every year. It offers basic nutrition, hygiene and medical care to the children who need it, a pre-school education that contributes to their development and prepares them for school, facilitating their entry into the school system at the age of 5.
